Beauty and portrait photographer Hamish Campbell works by focusing on techniques and materials, creating work in which a fascination with the clarity of content can be found. The work is minimal, clean, crisp and systematic.
His photos are made with a critical eye on the liberating constraints of the elements of composition. Romantic values such as ‘inspiration’, ‘genius’ and ‘authenticity’ are replaced with explorations in form, shape, colour, tones, line, pattern and texture.
Specialising in multi-output projects, Hamish's work is notable for its perfect finish and tactile nature. This is of great importance and bears witness to his passion for his craft, which is executed using clear formal rules and which should always refer to social reality.
